We’re happy to announce the support of ACTION (Participatory science toolkit against pollution) project, who are helping us incorporate “citizen science” approaches to our data work.

The first version of the Open Repair Data Standard (ORDS) is now ready, following the initial meeting of the Open Repair Alliance’s founding members in October during Fixfest.
Every little bit of data we collect has been going into our Fixometer database, where we are steadily compiling valuable information about which products that are failing the most frequently, why they are failing, and whether we are able to repair them.
With six Restart Party hosts, in London, Leicester and Turin, we’ve been improving our online community space, designed to help demonstrate the impact of our community electronics repair. Nearly there!
An amazing volunteer pool of Restarters has emerged from our monthly community events here in London. We had no idea there were so many talented people just waiting for an opportunity to share their skills.
In two years, we’ve seen +800 broken gadgets at our community events. Together with a team of volunteers and a coach, we have spent over 60 person-hours scouring the internet for data on their carbon footprints.
People love to get their gadgets fixed. There is absolutely no doubt about it. But what we would like to more clearly demonstrate the environmental benefits to repairing.
