Power up 2018 by changing your iPhone battery – we can help

Apple’s admission that it intentionally slowed the performance of iPhones with older batteries certainly raised more questions than it answered. But, for those who may have been experiencing aged-battery performance issues on their beloved handset, knowing this means you can easily bring that performance back with a new battery.

You can pay Apple to handle the whole process, but if you don’t have the time to make it down to your local Apple store or join a weeks-long waiting list, changing your battery for a new one is one of the easier repairs you can do yourself.

As our friends at iFixit note

if your ten-year-old cousin can build a Millennium Falcon out of LEGO bricks, you can swap out your iPhone battery

All you need are a quality replacement battery, the right screwdrivers, and anywhere between 15 minutes and an hour, depending on the model. Please source spare batteries from a reputable source – check the ratings of your seller, and do not buy if they are too cheap.

Come to a Restart Party or support a quality indie repair shop

What’s more – we’re here to help too! Bring your phone and the new battery to an upcoming Restart Party and we can work with you to give some new charge to your older phone.

If you do not have the time to open up your iPhone, remember there are many quality small businesses that can help you instead of facing the queues at Apple. Always check ratings and ask about warranty terms before choosing your repair shop.

It’s a great time to remember: a thriving independent repair sector benefits us all.
