Volunteers at a Restart Party fixing devices, cropped on hands

Description

This event will include the Repair Café and also a SWISH clothes swap.

For the Repair Café, bring along your broken item and a skilled volunteer will help you fix it! We can tackle a wide variety of repairs including jewellery, clothes and fabrics, electrical and electronic devices, sewing machines and other items. Please note that we will not be able to replace cracked screens on phones or tablets. The repairers are brilliant and can fix a lot of things but there are no guarantees.

Please book your item in from Friday 23rd June until Sunday 9th July, via the following link:

Booking Form – Great Shelford Rugby Club Repair Café

Booking is highly recommended to avoid a long wait on the day and to make things fair we politely request only one item per person. We ask all repairees to read and sign our repair agreement as we are all volunteers.

E-waste: You can also bring along small electrical items like kettles or cables that are obsolete or beyond repair and recycle them in our e-waste bin. No smoke alarms, vapes, light bulbs, batteries (except those which cannot be removed) or non-electricals please.

SWISH:

The clothes swap relies on donations of unwanted clothes that are clean and in good condition, brought in on the day or donated in advance. Once these are all on display, the SWISH opens, and people can browse the display and hopefully find something new (to them) that they can take away.  We’ll accept clothing on the day from 2:15 pm to 3pm, and the SWISH will open at 3pm and close around 4:30pm. Anyone can choose items to take away – you don’t have to have donated clothes. If you have clothes to donate in advance, contact us on the email address below.

The Repair Cafe and SWISH are both free, but donations are very welcome.  Tea and cake will be available of course!

2G3S Repair Cafes

2G3S is short for Going Greener in the Shelfords, Stapleford and Sawston. We organise repair cafes in Great Shelford, Whittlesford and Sawston with about 4 events each year. These are listed on our website and on the Cambridge Carbon Footprint events pages. We recommend booking in your item for repair , following the link on the event web page.

You can contact us via [email protected] if you have any questions.

We also support the Dr Bike Stapleford bike repair workshops which are held every Tuesday afternoon from 3pm - 6pm at the Old Slaughterhouse on Church Road in Stapleford.
