Bring your broken electrical item along to the Crystal Palace Fixers repair event and get expert advice from skilled enthusiasts so that you can try to repair and reuse your item, rather than throwing it away.
By learning some basic repair skills and sharing our practical knowledge with each other we can learn to love our stuff again and save it from landfill. Come and spend an afternoon with like-minded folk who are reinvigorating the ‘make-do and mend’ culture so that it once more resonates with a whole new generation.
Bring along your broken item* from home for assessment, and if deemed repairable, you can start making repairs using our tools under our guidance. We don’t fix things for you – instead we advise on the process and give a hand where we can. The idea is for the community to learn and share life-long repair skills and help each other to bring back stuff to former glory.
*Due to the time limits and the number of volunteer fixperts that are here on the day, we can mostly only help to fix one item per person.
What Can You Bring?
Small electrical and electronic items such as laptops, portable audio/radios, lamps, small kitchen items. Bulky items, microwaves and mains power tools are not allowed for safety reasons.
Volunteering
If you have some knowledge and repair skills and would like to be one of our fixperts during our events, please get in touch. We also need people to help organise, make tea and generally be an all-round good egg.
