Volunteers at a Restart Party fixing devices, cropped on hands

This Repair Cafe is run by volunteers from the Nelson Tasman Climate Forum.  They are community events which match people with broken household items with skilled volunteers or specialists who like fixing things. We're fixing items and building resilience and community. Come along and you might pick up some new fixing skills.
You will be able to bring household items for smaller repairs – examples include:

Electrical repairs (NO large appliances, microwaves and electric blankets) computer repairs
Small furniture or miscellaneous household items
Clothing & craft repairs - leather stitching
Tool maintenance

One item will be accepted per household, although if it’s not too busy, additional items may be repaired. It will be at the discretion of the Repair Café and the volunteers as to whether an item is suitable for repair, and you’ll be encouraged to observe and engage so that you can pick up new skills too.

Whilst you’re visiting, it’s also a great opportunity to browse the extensive ReStore shop and grab a coffee at their café.

We are looking for EXTRA HELPERS (meet & greet, runners etc) and repairers - if you have some skills please contact Cally +64 (0)224 060 206 or Carlo +64 (0)21 122 9439.   We set up about 9am, health and safety briefing for everyone taking part at 9.30am. Coffee and cake/sandwiches for volunteers.

Nelson Repair Cafe

The Nelson Tasman Climate Forum, founded in April 2020, is a large group of committed individuals in the top of South Island who are working together to tackle all aspects of climate change.  They are "doing" first rather than waiting for national or local legislation to make things happen.  The forum includes groups on food and water resilience, energy, waste and resources, transport etc.  The Forum's Repair Cafe has been operating since November 2020, and involves a wide range of individuals and now also local groups such as the MeNZshed,  plus help from the Nelson Council's Older Person's Strategy group volunteers etc.
