* NEW TIME: 10AM START! *
Every last Saturday of the month from 10-1 at Anō Anō (on Bank Street next to the Eco Centre) we’ll have a variety of volunteers to help repair household items, sharpen tools, mend linens and more!
This month we’ll be able to solder, repair mechanical items (clocks, fans, toys etc.) and mend clothing and linens.
Not only is the Eco Centre going to be open from 10-1 next Saturday to coincide with the Repair Café, but we’ll also be putting on the Great Clothing Rescue at the same time!
Part of the kaupapa at Anō Anō is to rescue clothing that local opshops can’t sell, so that it doesn’t end up in landfill. Sometimes there’s just TOO MUCH CLOTHING and our volunteers can’t keep up with all the mending, upcycling and repurposing that needs to be done.
SO, we’re putting out everything that’s still in perfectly good condition. Whether you’re concerned about the social and environmental costs of fast fashion and want to make a difference, or just need some extra clothes for the winter, come along and rescue as much clothing as you can!
Come have a cuppa, a chat, grab some clothing that’s still in good nick, and learn how easy it can be to repair what we’ve already got.
Timecredits from Tai Tokerau Timebank members or koha welcome in exchange. Let’s keep our possessions cherished, in awesome working order, and outta the landfill!
