Description
We have been all too accustomed to the throw away lifestyle. If something doesn’t work, throw it out and buy a new one. Because of this behavior our landfills are filling at a rapid rate and electronic waste has become the one of the largest pollution generators. So why not learn how to fix it?!
Bring your broken, non-functioning things: electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, etc. for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether we fix it or not, you’ll learn more about how it was manufactured and how it worked. This is a family-friendly event: children are heartily invited!
We are partnering with the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Public Library to host four SD Diego Fixit Clinics. We will be hosting our standard fixit clinic along with a pilot furniture repair workshop (more information coming soon), textile mending workshops (more information coming soon) and a series of repair demonstrations. Follow our page to get up to date information.
On Saturday, March 4th we will be at the Dove Library in Carlsbad and check out what we have in store:
- SD Fixit Clinic
- DIY Lighting Upcycling Workshop (Register Here)
- Drop-off E-Waste Event
- and more

I have a great idea for a repair demonstration and/or workshop, who do I talk to?
Awesome! Please send us an email at [email protected] and let us know all about it. We love showing off our communities skills.
Does this cost money?
No, this is a free event but please keep in mind this is not a free drop off and fix event. This event is hands-on for people that would like learn how to fix their items themselves with the help of our awesome Coaches. It would be great if you could bring your own supplies, but we will have some to share.
There would be costs involved if your item needs additional or replacement parts. We may have some spare parts but it is the responsibility of the attendee to purchase and bring necessary parts the day of the event
Will you accept walk-ins?
If time permits we will take walk-ins. It really depends on how quickly we can repair the items of the registered attendees.
Do you take donations of tools and supplies?
Oh boy do we, if you have any old tools you don’t need please bring them into to the next Fixit Clinic and/or email us at [email protected] to arrange drop off locations.
