Volunteers at a Restart Party fixing devices, cropped on hands

Description

This event is for laptop repair only.

Dr. Laptop is a great opportunity to help the community fix their laptops.

We give free support and recommendations for software or hardware problems and attempt to repair devices on the day although this isn’t always possible.

The event will be in Queens Crescent Community Association (45 Ashdown Crescent, Kentish Town, NW5 4QE).

Are you looking to get your laptop fixed?

Fixing Factory – Queen’s Crescent, Camden

We're on a mission to restore repair to the heart of our communities

We plan to turn a derelict high street shop unit into a social community hub for repair, maintenance and restoration - we'll have well equipped electronics benches, and a mission to get local hands fixing. Working with existing repair businesses in the area, we'll be drawing together and sharing skills and developing training for a new generation of fixers

We'll test out some of the myths around fixing, possibly in a Hackathon format (so please make suggestions for these) - with the goal of busting some of them myths wide open

But we only have until March 2023 to demonstrate this can work to our funders - if you enjoy this kind of a challenge, love working with communities, and would like to part of an exciting new project then let me know as there'll be a range of volunteering opportunities

We'll be planning a few pop up events and stands at various locations around the borough of Camden over this Summer and Autumn - as well as setting up our bricks and mortar home (once we find a suitable venue)

We also have a sister project: Fixing Factory Brent - which you may already have heard of - and specialises in laptop repair at Abbey Road recycling centre. The Fixing Factory projects involves a range of partners with The Restart Project leading in Brent and Possible (the climate action charity I work for) leading in Camden
