Fix It Thursdays
We plan to turn a derelict high street shop unit into a social community hub for repair, maintenance and restoration - we'll have well equipped electronics benches, and a mission to get local hands fixing. Working with existing repair businesses in the area, we'll be drawing together and sharing skills and developing training for a new generation of fixers
We'll test out some of the myths around fixing, possibly in a Hackathon format (so please make suggestions for these) - with the goal of busting some of them myths wide open
But we only have until March 2023 to demonstrate this can work to our funders - if you enjoy this kind of a challenge, love working with communities, and would like to part of an exciting new project then let me know as there'll be a range of volunteering opportunities
We'll be planning a few pop up events and stands at various locations around the borough of Camden over this Summer and Autumn - as well as setting up our bricks and mortar home (once we find a suitable venue)
We also have a sister project: Fixing Factory Brent - which you may already have heard of - and specialises in laptop repair at Abbey Road recycling centre. The Fixing Factory projects involves a range of partners with The Restart Project leading in Brent and Possible (the climate action charity I work for) leading in Camden
