Volunteers at a Restart Party fixing devices, cropped on hands

Description

Our very first Repair Cafe is in the works! Put it in your calendar NOW, round up your mending pile… pull the unused bike out of the shed… bring your laptop for a spruce up… we can’t wait to see you there!

The Repair Cafe was part funded by the Eric Wright Trust through Lancaster District CVS. Please note that we are operated by volunteers – please donate your time and money to make this event a success! We have plans to run it monthly, but it comes down to the volunteers and the people who show up.

This month we’ll have:
Sewing Café Lancaster for mending and darning.
They’ll be lending their mending knowledge and bringing the supplies for darning, hand-mending, 2 sewing machines, an overlocker and scissor sharpening. If you know how to mend, just come for the encouragement to “get through the pile.” If you don’t know what to do, they will provide instruction and assistance!

(If you need something like a zipper replaced, please bring one from a haberdashery – most will not be open Sunday morning and we might not have exactly what you’re looking for).

Bike Tune Ups:
Quick clean up and servicing by a Cytech qualified bike technician, Sam Allan. Advice for more services, if necessary, which are available at cost outside of the Repair Cafe. Bike repairs will be located outside, so dress warm!

Small Household Electrical Repair:
Including computers and laptops; smart phone items are harder, but may doable.

Kid’s Upcycled Crafting Corner with Kim and Co Craft
(for a small fee per project)

Our Scrapshop will be OPEN (and operating like a carboot sale – if you want something, let us know!)

We’re looking for:
Someone to PAT Test for our household electronics
Someone to sharpen scissors (and knives?)

Anyone with skills they’d like to volunteer!
Please get in touch if you’re willing and able to help: [email protected]

Accessibility: Unfortunately, we’re located on the 1st floor and do not have a lift

Re:Centre Lancaster

re:Centre is centred on creativity and sustainability.

We showcase artists and makers who make treasures of our trash. We scour the county for quality rubbish, skip rats with a purpose—to get interesting and usable scrap into your hands. We run workshops that help you reconnect to your creativity. We help small businesses with sustainability at their core better market their goods. And we host social crafting events where you can spend time creating, relaxing and connecting.

We run Repair Cafes on the 3rd Sunday of every month, from 11am - 3pm.
