It’s an annual tradition here at Restart — our top reads for the summer. The theme seems to be “none of this new — or near-future — but why does it feel that way?”
We’ve put together our annual list of books that we are reading or are earnestly planning to read. Admittedly, this year everything does seem to touch on limits, contradictions and the end of consensus. We can’t fight the zeitgeist!
This year, everything feels very near-future. In some sense, the books we have listed here represent the need to understand now in terms of possible, increasingly tangible futures.
We need more than Youtube teardowns and iFixit guides to inspire us! It may seem like we are online all the time but we love a good book, a good long-read when we get the chance.
