Getting ready for 2020
We’re getting our calendar ready for the beginning of 2020. The first months of the year are a great time to recruit new volunteers, engage the public on the issues underpinning our throw-away economy, but also to eat cake, to share hot drinks and connect with neighbours.
Challenging throw-away products on The One Show
We appear on The One Show this evening, calling out in-built obsolescence and short product lifetimes and fixing with our community in Brixton. If you feel moved to get involved anywhere in the UK, we’re here for you.
Taking care of resources in fair, net-zero economy
With the latest policy discussion on the “net zero” UK targets, we feel the need to contribute to the conversation about a whole economy shift to a green economy, including the repair economy.
Repairing for the Earth, repairing everywhere
The environmental cost of our electronics consumption is a global problem, requiring a global response. For Earth Day, we shout about the global issue of climate change and electronic waste while we recognise the power of repair to respond to these challenges.
A community dive into our data on computer repairs
For Open Data Day, March 2, we celebrated our first ever open dive into our repair database, AKA the Fixometer. We were focused on gleaning insights from our data on over 2,200 repairs of desktops, laptops and tablets to push for longer-lasting, repairable devices.
