Our new campaign in London mobilises donations of laptops, cash and volunteer skills, so that unused laptops can be used by students and people in need.
The need for electronic devices is high. We look at how Hackney Fixers, a community repair project in London, is reusing donated laptops to support students.
Before launching into an “urban mining” session on raw materials and recycling, we emphasised that reuse always comes before recycling. Then we “mined” with students working to identify the elements and minerals in the parts.
